The LED Grow Bell: your ally with the plants

Do you have an indoor greenhouse and want to know which light benefits your plants the most? We present the LED Grow Bell and analyze which is the best light for indoor plants.

As we know, plants need light to enjoy good health and grow correctly. In principle, this light must be solar but effective alternatives for the interior are beginning to appear.

To ensure that this interior light is beneficial for your plants and you can get a good productyou must take into account three factors: the color of the light, the hours of light and the quantity.

Color of light

Within all the electromagnetic radiation, that is, the light that the human eye is capable of perceiving. Also known as visible light. The color depends on the wavelength, measured in nanometers. The visible spectrum (visible light) is composed of radiation between 380-740 nm. Let us remember that these data are approximate, since each person has a slightly different perception.

  • Blue Color: It is perceived between 400-500 nm and is responsible for vegetative growth. The one that occurs after germinating and until flowering. If we only give a plant blue light, it will grow short and dark in color.
  • Red/Far Red Color: It is perceived between 600-700 nm and influences stem elongation, especially in crops with direct light. Plants reflect far red much more than red.

These two colors are relevant for plants. However, green is a color that they are not able to absorb. A combination of blue and red lighting is perfect for growth and flowering.

Outside of the light perceptible to humans we have: on the one hand, ultraviolet light with a wavelength less than 380 nm and on the other hand, infrared light with a wavelength wavelength greater than 740 nm.

Light hours

The photoperiod is the number of hours of continuous light that a plant receives within a 24-hour period. Helps the flowering, branching and growth of the plant. Logically, outdoors it lasts the same as the hours of sunshine. In this aspect and although they normally last around 12 hours, there are plants with different needs.

  • Short-day plants: they bloom when the day is shorter. Generally those that bloom in autumn or spring. For example, chrysanthemums or Christmas flowers. This type of plant, if we expose it to more than 12 hours of light, it will leave us without flowers.
  • Long-day plants: they need a little more than 12 hours of light. It refers to summer flowers and some vegetables such as lettuce, spinach or potatoes.
  • Neutral plants: their flowering does not depend on the photoperiod. For example, tomatoes, cucumbers or strawberries.

Amount of light

It refers to the number of photons capable of carrying out the photosynthesis process on a surface. We can refer to the amount at a certain moment, known as light intensity or during a complete day.

What kind of light do I need?

With all the information that we have put in your hand, you should analyze it taking into account what type of plant you have and to what extent you have some natural light or none at all.

As we have seen before, plants need blue light, ideal for growth, and red light, the more red light, the more flowering. Thanks to LED lighting we can achieve pure colors. We can set aside everything else, the colors that don’t give us anything like green. At OptimaLED we manufacture a mega powerful spotlight 150w of Blue light and another of Red light . Ideal for plantations with high light needs.

Another recommendation for your indoor or greenhouse plants is the 28W LED Grow Bell . A product designed for plant growth and flowering. It is made of aluminum. Provides the exact wavelength that the lamp needs during photosynthesis. Ideal for small gardens or plantations with low ceilings.

Growth results vary radically depending on the lighting you give them. That is why choosing good lighting is important to have the best results. Don’t risk it, ask us !
